The new Battlefront 3 would not use any content from the version of the game that was previously in development, and would instead be built from Star Wars: First Assault. According to Kotaku, an unnamed source who was familiar with the game's development said that the success of Star Wars: First Assault would determine whether there was still interest in a Star Wars-themed shooter, which would allow for the continued development and release of Star Wars: Battlefront 3.
